The short version
For a one-acre property with mostly open, gently rolling grass, buy the Segway Navimow X350. It is rated for 1.5 acres, which gives a real acre of turf the headroom it needs, it was on sale for $2,799 in October 2026, and it was authorized for US sale before the July 2026 FCC list. Steep or rough acre? The Mammotion LUBA 3 AWD 5000 or the tracked Lymow One Plus take over. And if your “acre” is really 0.6 to 0.8 acre of grass once you subtract the house and driveway, the Navimow X330 or Greenworks AiMowbot C40 will do it for less.
Most “1 acre” robot mower lists are written by the brands. They list mowers rated for exactly 1.0 acre, which sounds right and is usually wrong. A 1.0-acre rating is sized for about 0.8 acre of real turf once slope, trees, beds and the recharge cycle take their share. This page sizes the picks the way our lawn size guide says to: measure the grass, add 20 to 30 percent, buy the rating that clears it. Specs and prices come from our 94-model database as of October 17, 2026. They are fall sale prices. They will move.
Sizing a real acre
An acre is 43,560 square feet. Almost nobody has an acre of grass. On a typical one-acre lot the house, driveway, patio, beds and any wooded edge take 15 to 40 percent of it. So measure the turf, not the lot. Google Earth’s polygon tool is close enough.
Then apply the headroom rule: rated area should run 20 to 30 percent above your actual turf. Why the margin? The rating is a weekly keep-up figure from flat open test lawns, and every slope, tree, bed and zone crossing takes a bite out of it. Here is what that does to the shopping list:
| Your actual turf | Rating you want (turf x 1.2 to 1.3) | Models in our database that clear it |
|---|---|---|
| 0.6 acre | 0.72 to 0.78 acre | Anything rated 0.75 acre or more (LUBA 3 AWD 3000, Mova Lidax Ultra 3000 AWD, Greenworks C30Z, Ecovacs A3000, Airseekers Tron Plus, and every model below) |
| 0.8 acre | 0.96 to 1.04 acre | Navimow X330, Greenworks C40, Husqvarna 420 iQ, Roborock RockMow X130H, Lymow One Plus (5A), and every model below |
| 1.0 acre | 1.2 to 1.3 acres | LUBA 3 AWD 5000 (1.24), Dreame A3 AWD Pro 5000 (1.24), Husqvarna 435 iQ AWD (1.3), Navimow X350 and X450 (1.5), Sunseeker X7 Plus Gen 2 (1.5), Lymow One Plus 10A (1.73), Husqvarna 440 iQ (2.0), Navimow X390 (2.5) |
Ratings from each manufacturer’s US page via mowers.csv. The 1.2 to 1.3 multiplier is from our lawn size guide.
One more number matters. Rated area is not daily coverage. Navimow says the X350 can cover 1.5 acres within 24 hours. Lymow publishes both an acres-per-day figure (1.73) and an acres-per-charge figure (0.57) for the One Plus. Most brands publish neither. If you want the acre cut in an afternoon rather than kept trimmed over a week, you need a big battery.

Segway Navimow X350
The X350 is rated for 1.5 acres. That is the first Navimow that gives a true acre of turf the headroom we want. The spec sheet lists 200 minutes of runtime, an 80-minute recharge, a 9.3-inch cut and a 50 percent slope limit. The October 2026 store price was $2,799 against a $3,499 MSRP, a $700 gap.
The published tests mostly agree. Business Insider names the X350 its best robot mower. ZDNET’s long-term review logged 92,700 square feet mowed over 67 runs with one mishap (it climbed a low solar panel and broke it) and called it the fastest and most reliable robot mower its reviewer had used. PCWorld liked it with one clear limit in the subtitle: it handles 1.5-acre yards “as long as they’re relatively flat.” The Gadgeteer ran it on a one-acre Florida backyard and had to map an irregular yard by hand.
What to watch: rear-wheel drive and RTK, so it wants open sky and no real hill. Navimow lets you map 1.2 times the rated area. So 1.8 acres fits on an X350. Do not expect it to keep up with that much. FCC status: authorized before the July 2026 list.

Segway Navimow X330
Same chassis, cameras and 50 percent slope rating as the X350, with a smaller battery (8 Ah instead of 10) and a 1.0-acre rating. The spec sheet lists 160 minutes of runtime and a 65-minute charge. It was $2,299 in October 2026 against a $2,799 MSRP, $500 under the X350.
Who it fits: an acre lot where the grass measures 0.8 acre or less. Run the math. 0.8 times 1.25 is 1.0, exactly the rating, so the headroom is there only if the yard is mostly flat and open. If it is 0.85 acre with a slope and a dozen trees, spend the $500.
Owners on Navimow’s Trustpilot page split the way RTK owners usually do. Most praise the setup and mapping. A minority report edge or obstacle misses. One European i-series owner described a wheel spinning on stone pavers at a terrace edge and digging into the lawn. The X3’s 10-inch wheels and traction control were added for that problem. A paver edge still deserves a no-go buffer. FCC status: authorized before the list.

Greenworks AiMowbot C40
The C40 is the cheapest 1.0-acre wire-free mower in our database at $1,499.99 list, a thousand dollars under the X330. It uses RTK plus cameras, cuts an 8-inch path from 0.75 to 3.5 inches, is rated for 45 percent slopes and runs at 54 dB, the quietest figure on this page. It was sold out when we checked on October 17, 2026.
Two things keep it off the top spot. The price looks like a mistake: Greenworks lists the C40 (1 acre) for $100 less than its own C30Z (3/4 acre), so expect it to change when stock returns. And the owner signal is weak. The C20 page showed 3.0 out of 5 across 31 reviews on Greenworks’ own store. That is low for a brand-hosted review section.
What to watch: the same 0.8-acre-of-turf ceiling as the X330, two-wheel drive, and a brand new to wire-free. The C40 page did not state a warranty. Confirm before you buy. FCC status: authorized for US sale before the July 2026 list.

Husqvarna Automower 440 iQ
The 440 iQ is rated for 2.0 acres, the largest rating of any current US residential robot mower in our database. On an acre that is double headroom. It runs fewer hours a day and has slack for the weeks the grass grows fast. The spec sheet lists a 7.5 Ah battery, 138 minutes per charge, a 54-minute recharge, a 9.4-inch cut from 1 to 4 inches and a 45 percent slope limit. Price is $4,299.99 with no sale, and the US page showed it out of stock in mid-October 2026.
You are paying for the channel. Husqvarna sells through dealers who install, service and stock parts. Its EPOS positioning uses a free cloud correction service where coverage exists and the included RS1 reference station where it does not. One r/automower owner who ran a 420 iQ for 30 days next to an older 450X EPOS put the trade plainly: the 420 iQ tops out at 1 acre where the older model did 2.5. The 440 iQ answers that.
What to watch: 45 percent is the lowest slope rating here, and there is no AWD version at this size (the 435 iQ AWD is rated 1.3 acres at $4,999.99). Object detection is radar, not cameras. It will not pick out a dog toy. Do not confuse it with the “440v iQ,” a different 2027 model that got FCC conditional approval in September 2026; the 440 iQ sold today was authorized before the July 2026 list.

Lymow One Plus (10A charger)
Every other mower on this page cuts with small pivoting razor blades on a disc. The Lymow One Plus uses two steel rotary blades on a 16-inch deck, runs on rubber tracks, and weighs 78.5 pounds. Lymow rates it at 0.57 acre per charge and 1.73 acres per day with the 10A charger (1.1 acres per day with the 5A). Slope limit is 100 percent. The 10A bundle was $2,799 in October 2026 against a $3,199 MSRP.
Wirecutter made it its upgrade pick for bigger yards, citing the tank treads and sturdy blades for tougher terrain and grass. PCWorld’s test found the dual-blade deck kept working in tall and overgrown grass where small-blade mowers bog down, measured 74 dB in turbo mode (loud for this category), and saw it handle slopes of about 30 degrees reliably rather than the full 45 degrees Lymow claims. How To With Doc, an unsponsored Georgia farm test, reported that thick or wet grass can clog the side discharge port.
What to watch: it is the loudest and heaviest mower here. A true acre is two charge cycles. It is a 2026 model and we could not verify its FCC Covered List status; our tracker explains what that means for a buyer.
| Rated area | 1.73 acres/day, 0.57 acre/charge |

| Max slope | 100% (45°) |
| Cutting width / height | 16 in / 1.2 to 4 in, dual rotary blades |

Mammotion LUBA 3 AWD 5000
If part of your acre is a real hill, two-wheel drive runs out around 45 to 50 percent grade. The LUBA 3 AWD 5000 is rated for 1.24 acres and 80 percent slopes, carries a 324 Wh battery good for 215 minutes, and navigates three ways at once (360-degree LiDAR, network RTK, two cameras). That is why it keeps working under trees where plain RTK mowers lose their fix. It was $3,299 in October 2026 with no sale showing.
The published tests are strong. Reviewed names the LUBA 3 AWD 3000S one of its two favorite robot mowers. New Atlas clocked about 2,276 square feet per hour at roughly half speed on the 3000 and noted the base station has no roof unless you pay $200 more. The owner picture is more mixed. Proven Shelf tallied 20 owner reports on the 5000: 11 led with satisfaction, 9 led with a problem. Two complaints repeat. Turf damage on skid-steer turns, and uncut tufts the mower treats as obstacles. On r/mammotion the 2026 threads are about firmware updates that changed turn behavior and broke maps, and Mammotion’s own review page has owners praising the climb and calling the app weak in the same breath.
What to watch: 1.24 acres is barely enough headroom for a full acre of steep turf. The 3000 is too small. Switch the app to three-point turns and put a no-go zone over soft ground. The LUBA 3 is a 2026 model and we could not verify its FCC status; see the tracker. Its predecessor, the LUBA 2 AWD 5000X, was authorized before the list but was sold out and marked superseded in October 2026.
| Rated area | 1.24 acres (Mammotion says 1.25) |
| Navigation | 360° LiDAR + network RTK + dual cameras |
| Max slope | 80% |
| Cutting width / height | 15.7 in / 1.0 to 2.7 in (H version 2.2 to 4.0) |
| Battery / runtime | 324 Wh / 215 min |
| Noise | 70 dB or less |
| Warranty | 3 years, 3 years of 4G included |
Who should skip this category, and what we did not pick
Skip a robot mower for now if your acre is heavily wooded and you will not pay for LiDAR, if the grass is over six inches at the start of the season (everything above except the Lymow will struggle until you knock it down once), or if you need bagged clippings. None of these bag.
Models that were close:
- Navimow X450 (1.5 acres, 84 percent, AWD, $2,999): the AWD pick on paper, but sold out in October 2026 and a 2026 model with unverified FCC status.
- Dreame A3 AWD Pro 5000 (1.24 acres, 80 percent, LiDAR, $2,999.99): a direct LUBA 3 rival for $300 less. Its price showed two numbers on two loads of the same page, and we found less independent testing. Worth a look if the price settles.
- Husqvarna 420 iQ (1.0 acre, $3,299.99) and Roborock RockMow X130H (1.0 acre, AWD, $2,499): both fit the 0.8-acre case, but the X330 does it for less with more published testing, and Roborock’s US spec tables could not be captured.
- Navimow X390 (2.5 acres, $4,499): more mower than an acre needs.
FAQ
Is a mower rated for 1 acre enough for a 1-acre lot?
Usually yes, because a one-acre lot rarely has more than 0.8 acre of grass. Measure the turf first. If it comes to 0.8 acre or less, a 1.0-acre model like the X330 or C40 has the headroom. If you truly have an acre of grass, go to 1.24 acres or more.
How long does a robot mower take to cut an acre?
It depends on per-charge coverage, and most brands do not publish it. Lymow does: 0.57 acre per charge. Two cycles for an acre. Navimow claims the X350 covers 1.5 acres within 24 hours. New Atlas measured the LUBA 3 AWD 3000 at about 2,276 square feet per hour at half speed, roughly 19 hours for an acre at that pace. These machines are built to trim a little every day, not to finish in one pass.
Do you need RTK or LiDAR for an acre?
Open acre, RTK. Wooded acre, LiDAR or a fusion model that has both. Our RTK vs LiDAR vs vision guide walks through it, and the RTK signal fixes page covers antenna placement for larger properties.
What about the FCC Covered List?
The July 2026 FCC action blocks new authorizations for foreign-made robotic devices. It does not stop already-authorized mowers from being sold or used. Three of the six picks above (Navimow X350, X330, Husqvarna 440 iQ) and the Greenworks were authorized before the list. The Lymow and LUBA 3 are 2026 models whose status we could not verify. Details in the tracker.
