Tin Man Reviews exists because every robot brand publishes its own “best robot mower” list, and every one of them picks itself. We wanted a site that reads the spec sheets, pulls the owner reviews, tracks the prices, and tells you plainly which machine fits your yard or your pool.
What we cover
Robots that do chores around a home. Right now that means robotic pool cleaners and robot lawn mowers. Robot vacuums and mops come next, then window, gutter, and litter robots as they get good enough to recommend.
How we work
Every recommendation on this site starts from a database we maintain ourselves: specs from manufacturer pages, prices checked weekly, warranty terms, and FCC authorization status for mowers. On top of that we read owner reviews across Amazon, Reddit, and owner forums and tag the patterns, so when we say “owners consistently report RTK signal loss under tree cover,” that comes from a count, not a hunch. Where a published lab test exists, we cite it. We do not claim hands-on testing we have not done. The full method is on the How We Evaluate page.
Who runs it
Tin Man Reviews is written and edited by Darrell Steven. We read 10,000s of owner reviews so you don’t have to. His day job is comparing equipment on evidence and buying what works, and this site applies the same habit to the robots showing up in garages and pool sheds. No brand sends us free units, and no brand sees a review before it goes up.
Why the Tin Man
He is the one character in the old story who wanted a heart and already had one. That is the standard here: judge the machines, but care whether the person reading ends up with the right one.
